Paint a Power Animal! Workshop

February 28, 2016 – April 3, 2016 (5 Sunday afternoons, no class Sunday Mar 27)
2pm – 5pm

Location: North Raleigh, Creedmoor Rd/ Norwood Rd, 27614

I will guide you in using intuitive art techniques to paint a power animal!  The intuitive methods help you to start using freedom, fun and a little intention!  You don’t need experience, there is no wrong way to paint this, as the process of painting IS your medicine. I’ll help you keep moving. I use ‘power animal’ from the perspective of contemporary shamanism as used by Sandra Ingerman or Michael Harner for example. I use intuitive painting methods inspired by Flora Bowley.

Class schedule

Week 1: Setting the intention & choosing a subject. Laying down the first layers.
Week 2: Finding the form. Exploring layers of color & mark-making. Using glazes.
Week 3: Setting boundaries. Blocking in & filling out. Discerning mood & color palate.
Week 4: Details. Eyes & features. Background & integration.
Week 5: Completion. Glazes, edges, borders & varnishes.

Price: $60 a class or $225 for the 5-week course, paid in advance.

Materials: See the supplies list of paints, canvas and tools.  I recommend using a 24 x 24 canvas and can provide at cost. If you are not sure if you want to invest in materials yet, you can use mine for $10 per session.

TESTIMONIALS

“I had the most incredible couple of days learning shamanic painting with Anita. The whole experience allowed me to explore new aspects of my personal creativity.  I left inspired, energized and with a fresh sense of wonder. Thanks Anita!”            Annabel Daly, New Year’s Resolution Club co-founder http://www.newyearsresolutionclub.wordpress.com

” I have been a realistic Graphite Portrait Artist for the last 12 yrs. Whilst I also enjoyed painting murals on walls I had little experience with acrylic on canvas. Anita has opened art up to me in a whole new light. Truly she has helped me to embrace painting as a process and to overcome many insecurities and fears that artists are faced with. Her deep love for nature deepens the experience in a meaningful way.  Anita teaches a style of painting that frees the artist to embark on a journey of self discovery eventually allowing the artist to discover their own unique style.”
